Use a Georgian keyboard

In Unicode, Georgian letters have their own character codes. A Georgian „ა“ stays that character when you change fonts. The chosen font, or a fallback provided by the app, needs to contain it to display it.

For new text, use a Georgian keyboard and a Unicode font. This makes searching, copying and editing more reliable.

If changing fonts reveals Latin letters

Some non-Unicode fonts draw Georgian shapes in positions assigned to Latin characters. Text may look Georgian while being stored as Latin. Changing the font alone cannot turn that text into Unicode.

Keep a copy of the original document. Conversion needs the correct source mapping; check punctuation, numbers and mixed-language passages carefully afterwards.

If a character is missing

Not every Georgian font includes Mtavruli, Nuskhuri, Asomtavruli, Latin or ₾. Check the alphabets on the font page and preview your text.

Boxes or individual characters appearing in another typeface can indicate missing glyphs. Choose a font that contains the characters you need.
